And this is why 2 guys/gals want to do it - just like why a guy and a gal does it...humans are basically very selfish creatures and this paper is a "stake" on each other... In the corporate world, people work harder for something if they have a stake in it, rather than just being an employee... And of course on the legal side, "spouses" are often entitled benefits from one's employer e.g. medical, insurance etc Maybe the putting of 2 names on a single piece of paper is a sign of commitment?
