As a new follower of the Buddhist tradition, I was shocked to hear of the Dalai Lama's views on "unconventional" sex (not my own view). When my partner and I first looked at Buddhism we read up about Buddhist ideas of sexual expression and I never came across anyone suggesting bisexuality or homosexuality as wrong. Thank you for this well informed article that arrests my fears that most Buddhists would share this out-dated and discriminatory view. I'm tired of people allowing socially constructed misconceptions come between understanding themselves and others. My friend said 'don't love others for the similarities you share, but for the differences.' Maybe we could all take a leaf?
